Caryn Franklin collects MBE in eco style

Franklin, who found fashion fame in the Eighties and Nineties on the BBC series The Clothes Show, today received an MBE for 'services to diversity in the fashion industry'.
The former co-editor of i-D magazine founded All Walks Beyond the Catwalk in 2009, an initiative to promote a broader range of body and beauty ideals along with model Erin O'Connor and creative consultant Debra Bourne.
"We have been working with creating a more empathetic message from the fashion industry in service of all bodies, shapes, sizes and skin tones and ages" Franklin told PA outside Buckingham Palace today.

Presented with her MBE by the Princess Royal, who was wearing her uniform of Admiral in the Royal Navy, Franklin relayed their conversation: "I said she was looking delightful and I love a woman in uniform. She asked me what I was wearing and I told her Ada Zanditon, who works in an ethical way to promote sustainable clothing. All the fabrics will have been upcycled."
The 54-year-old graduate of Kingston University added: "She was lovely."
Franklin completed her eco-warrior turn in the spotlight with pieces from People Tree, Junky Styling and earrings made from old tyres.
A published author and fashion commentator, London-based Franklin is also the co-chair of Fashion Targets Breast Cancer and came up with the concept for the London College of Fashion's Centre for Sustainable Fashion.
