Shelley's shoes get a new lease of life courtesy of Aldo
Most girls - and maybe guys - who grew up in the Nineties will recall Shelley's, the shoe emporium that held residencies on Carnaby Street, the King's Road, Neal Street in Covent Garden and a three-story behemoth on Manchester's Market Street. Long before the days of Topshop and Zara, it was this gem that sold fashion-forward footwear and adorned the pages of magazines.

Then, in 2003 owners the Robbins family sold the business to rival shoe emporium Stylo, who five years later sold it to Hong Kong-based company Eternal Best Industries. Numerous attempts to relaunch the ailing brand were made, including an e-tail site , though none returned the brand to its former glory.
Now Aldo Group, the company behind the well-known high street shoe brand of the same name, has taken Shelley's under its wing in the hope of reinvigorating it back to its former glory.
Though the Shelley's name is still owned by Eternal Best Industries, Aldo now hold a global licensing deal and will direct all design, production, branding and sales. As well as being sold in Aldo stores, Urban Outfitters and on ASOS.com, Shelley's shoes will also cross the pond to US department stores Macy's and Nordstrom as part of a global expansion of the brand.
A brand new 50-piece collection which promises to stay true to the brand's distinctive British heritage will be unveiled in the autumn.
