Samantha Cameron donates her Burberry Royal Wedding Dress to Save The Children

Save the Children has joined forces with eBay UK and the British Fashion Council to launch #bidboutique, the charity's first ever online designer store, which will stock an exclusive selection of the hottest fashion and accessories.
Amongst the array of autumn/winter goodies available, #bidboutique will also be offering us the chance to get our hands on some one-of-a-kind pieces that have been generously donated by a whole host of celebrities and designers who have got behind the project. Items up for grabs include an Alexander McQueen gold clutch, a Temperley lace dress, a Jimmy Choo bag and a Mawi necklace, but the jewel in the very stylish crown has to be the elegant teal dress, which Samantha Cameron wore to the Royal Wedding.

As Rosie Shannon from Save the Children explains, all proceeds from the auction will go to charity, so if you're lucky enough to win, you'll be able to parade your new purchase knowing that the money you've spent is going to a great cause, "The Born to Shop #bidboutique online auction is part of our No Child Born to Die campaign to stop the needless deaths of more than 7.6 million children every year," said Rosie. "With the money raised from the auction, we will be able to deliver life saving aid to children in some of the world's poorest countries."

For its part, Ebay are also proud to be part of the project "Since 2006 our eBay for Charity programme has raised over £36 million for UK Charities," explained Melanie Smallwood, head of eBay fashion brands. "We're delighted to be supporting this auction during London Fashion Week in association with the British Fashion Council".
The auction began on Tuesday and will run until Sunday 23rd September, and in case you need any further encouragement to get bidding, Erin O'Connor, a Save the Children ambassador, offers this entreaty, "Please get behind the #bidboutique - you can grab a piece of beautiful designer fashion and do your bit to help save a child's life."
