Indulge in a slice of Fendis Baguette

For luxury fashion house Fendi, 2012 is proving to be the year of the Baguette. While the brand's French counterparts in the Parisian fashion capital are all about authentic, freshly-baked bread sticks, the Italians are celebrating the 15-year reign of its iconic handbag with a micro-site dedicated to what arguably gained kudos as the first ever 'It-bag'.

A pop-up shop on Fendi.com is eyeball heaven for those wishing to ogle at 63 diminutive styles, many of which have been especially re-issued for Baguette's birthday. Prices start from a surprisingly reasonable £345 for a vintage style in white lurex, ranging to £3,730 for a version in ostrich leather.
Crafty customers should order the Baguette Box (£735), an ingenious set comprising a white fabric Baguette, nine acrylic paint colours and personalized Fendi paint brushes, perfect for creating a one-off style.
Fendi's ready-to-wear designer Karl Lagerfeld has also created a Happy Birthday T-shirt (below, £310) and a silk scarf (£290) adorned with a sketch of the petite bag.
The Baguette also comes in miniature forms on keyrings (£215) and a printed version on a linen shopping bag (above, £155).
And after you've decided exactly which carb-free 'slice' to invest in, spare a thought for your poor calorie-laden credit card.
