And it's not the same air-brushed, out-of-touch thing you used to see on the walls of the quickie mani spot down the street. Your manicure has become the latest cheeky, irreverent accessory. You've gotta have a cute one or don't bother. Let's put it this way: red carpet coverage now includes a mani-cam, so you know things are getting serious.

The nails were a major statement on the runway at Creatures of the Wind. Oranges, neutrals, multicolor, CND nail techs created color schemes that completely reflected and complemented the collection. To get the look, paint your nails with two coats of polish in the color of your choice — we love this orange. The pyramid stud nail art was done by none other than Deborah Lippmann and her team. The almond shaped nails (almond-shaped is the new square) were painted in one of two shades: Fade To Black, or a custom pink created by layering Amazing Grace (opaque white), I Kissed a Girl (pink), and Between the Sheets (fuchsia). A gold pyramid stud, which could be found at most craft stores, was placed an eighth of an inch above the cuticle in the center of the nail.

Essie's Michelle Saunders used five shades of polish to create the look: deep navy, teal, powder blue, copper and gold. To recreate, dab a couple drops of each color on nail, and then use a fine detail brush to swirl the colors together. Voila!
