Tina Turner proves shes still simply the best as she graces Vogue cover at 73

It's thought that legendary singer Tina Turner has become the oldest person to grace a Vogue cover as she appears on the April 2013 issue of the famed fashion publication's German edition.

At 73-years-old, Turner surpasses Meryl Streep, who became the oldest when she covered US Vogue 's January 2012 aged 62.

The Simply The Best singer was shot by photography duo Claudia Knoepfel & Stefan Indlekofer and styled by Nicola Knels in midnight blue gown by Armani.

Turner started her signing career in the mid-Fifties as part of her former husband Ike Turner's group, the King's of Rhythm, before going on to become a world-famous singer in her own right. She left semi-retirement in 2008 to embank upon a 50th anniversary tour, for which her friend Giorgio Armani created the costumes.

She recently renounced her U.S. citizenship to apply for Swiss citizenship having lived in the country since the mid-Nineties, and is said to be currently recording a new studio album, Beyond 2 .
