Style Spotlight: See The Stars Taking Super Strides In Wide Leg Trousers

When Victoria Beckham and Leigh Lezark stepped out in the same Chloe striped super wide trousers within days of each other, it was only a matter of time before others followed suit and as if by magic within the week Jessica Alba worked her very own pastel pair with a contrasting peach out-sized jacket.
An extreme version of last spring/summer's pyjama trousers trend, this season's super wide, silky trews are the way to do summer tailoring and a very versatile addition to your wardrobe they are too!

Here are our top five tips to... pardon the pun: rock them with flair!
1. To tuck or not to tuck: if the thought of extra volume fills you with fear, panic not! Simply team your wide-leg trousers with a slinky vest a la Leigh Lezark, or crisp white shirt like Margherita Missoni. However, if you're prepared to embrace all things voluminous this season (it'll earn you extra fashion stripes) then take a leaf out of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's book and wear yours with a pretty peasant blouse.
2. Crop your jacket: the easiest way to work the wide-leg trouser look is with a shrunken jacket, aim for styles that stop just short of your waist, Antonia Clarke's leather biker jacket (see gallery above) is ideal, but crop denim jackets and tailored numbers also look the part.
3. Perfect for cocktail hour: these super strides aren't just for daytime, oh contraire! Particularly in black, wide legs make for a killer evening look! Look to Lauren Conrad and fashion pro Margherita Missoni (in the gallery above) for your inspiration, and note their red lipstick, an all-important finishing touch.
4. Choose your shoes carefully: wide leg trousers can create a shoe minefield so stick to these two simple shoe rules: if your trousers finish at the ankle or above then anything goes, block heels, towering stilettos, flats... the options are endless! But if your trousers are of the floor-sweeping variety then do like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and stick to open or peep-toe sandals.
5. Minimize your accessories: with all that maxi trouser volume going on, keep your arm candy neat and chic with a stand-out clutch: Margherita Missoni and Leigh Lezark show you how (see gallery above).
Simples!
