Katy Perry's GHD contract gets messy

Call it irony, but Katy Perry's relationship with hairstyling company GHD (which stands for Good Hair Day) has just turned very messy indeed.

The chameleon of colour and crop was an obvious choice for GHD, who signed her as its celebrity face back in 2011. It was the perfect celebrity endorsement, and the flamboyant campaigns - featuring Perry as the pink haired mermaid in one shot and as a sexy Snow White in another - that followed gave the impression that GHD expected big things.

But as TMZ.com have reported, Katy Perry allegedly didn't bring in quite the sort of sales figures they were expecting.

The Jemella Group, the company behind GHD, have since tried to cut ties with their pop princess. But team Perry claim that the company still owe her $2 million, as her two year contract was in fact extended by an "oral agreement."

GHD are asking the courts to block the lawsuit and deny any kind of agreement: why would they have asked to extend the contract when their market research revealed that Europeans just aren't into Perry anymore?

Understandably miffed, team Perry hit back before any more damage was done. "Jemella's attempt to embarrass Ms. Perry by including defamatory statements about her in a public filing is shameful. They're backing out of the deal because of an ownership change, and just throwing shade to hide their bad faith."
